PROVENCE / LUBERON - Best of Provence Horse Ride

Horse riding tours in Provence: perched villages of Luberon and ochers of the Provencal Colorado and Roussillon - Ride in France

This horseback riding trip from the Luberon to the Haute Provence will make you live an exceptional week. A ride from the Parc Naturel du Luberon to the Parc Naturel du Mont Ventoux in the sunshine of Provence.
We discover all the landscapes described by Jean Giono under the scent of thyme, sage, rosemary, wild lavender...

Day 1 - Monday: Lauris - Buoux
Welcome drink and presentation of our ride, followed by lunch. We begin this horse ride by climbing the crests of the Petit Luberon. We then continue towards Bonnieux, a beautiful hilltop village of stone houses. We then head towards the Claparèdes plateau and the first lavender fields before discovering the Aiguebrun gorges, which mark the boundary between the Petit and Grand Luberon. We pass by the Prieuré de St Symphorien, then follow the Aiguebrun river to reach our first accommodation at the foot of the great climbing cliffs of Buoux. A dip in the pool before dinner will be much appreciated!

Day 2 - Tuesday: Buoux - Céreste
We start the day by discovering the prehistoric sites of the Gorges de l'Aiguebrun. We then make our way to a very pretty Provençal village and take a break at the village fountain to water the horses. Lunch break under the oak trees. In the afternoon, we ride along paths through fragrant garrigue before arriving in Céreste, gateway to Haute Provence. Dinner and overnight stay at an inn in the heart of the village.

Day 3 - Wednesday: Céreste - Simiane-la-Rotonde
After a break to discover the 11th-century Prieuré de Carluc, we resume our horse trek, leaving the Luberon and heading for Oppedette. On horseback through the Provençal hills and fields of sage and wheat, we join our assistant for lunch. A pleasant buffet awaits us in the shade of truffle oaks, on the edge of the Canyon d'Oppedette. Stroll through this typical Haute-Provence village before setting off again on horseback in the shade of the holm oaks. Arrive at the chambres d'hôtes at the foot of the hilltop village of Simiane-la Rotonde, in time to enjoy the swimming pool before dinner.

Day 4 - Thursday: Simiane-la-Rotonde - Le Revest du Bion
Visit the village of Simiane-la-Rotonde on foot before setting off on horseback to the Monts de Vaucluse. Picnic under the chestnut trees, the leaves of which are used to wrap the delicious Banon goat's cheese that we'll enjoy with a Côte du Luberon. In the afternoon, the trail winds its way through fields of lavender and sage before arriving at the equestrian gîte for the night.

Day 5 - Friday: Le Revest-du-Bion - Montbrun les Bains
Departure on horseback through moorland and forest. Picnic near Sault. In the afternoon, we set off on horseback towards Aurel, a charming medieval village at the foot of Mont Ventoux. Surrounded by green hills and overlooking a pretty little plain planted with lavender, a sweet fragrance wafts through the air during July and August. Arrive late afternoon in Montbrun-les-Bains, one of the most beautiful villages in France, facing Mont Ventoux. Transfer and overnight in Lauris for the last evening.

Day 6 - Saturday
End of your horse ride after breakfast. Free transfer to Aix en Provence TGV station or Marseille Provence airport.
