Region of choice for fans of riding and nature, the "Champ du Feu" is located on the Alsatian side of the Vosges. Ranked zone Natura 2000, delighting riders with landscapes that combine the bright colors of stubble and the dark green of the pine forests, the roundness of its mountains and gentle valleys, magnificent waterfalls and abundant and varied wildlife. |
The region is also loaded with stories and legends, has many vestiges: medieval castles, ancient churches, walls dating from pagan age...
The trail that we offer here is a stationary ride, that is to say that you will return every night to the guest house at the equestrian center. The advantage is that this program is available to all riders, from beginners to advanced riders. On site level groups are set up, with the two routes described below, the one for experienced riders, the other novice riders.
This program is ideal for family holidays.
Day 1
Meet at the riding centre from 5pm. The first evening, over a typical Alsatian meal, gives us the opportunity to get to know the other participants and the guides. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 2
The first morning is an opportunity to discover the equestrian centre's facilities and to ride in the surrounding forest to test our level and get to know your horse. At an altitude of 1099m, this Natura 2000 site is the highest point in the Bas Rhin. In the afternoon, we head for the small village of Le Hohwald. On the way, we'll admire its superb waterfall, one of the most beautiful in Alsace! Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 3
After breakfast, we set off on a ride to Verlorene Eck, the ‘lost corner’. Here, around thirty menhirs are arranged in an arc. To this day, the arrangement of these stones remains a mystery that no-one has been able to unravel... We stop here for a picnic. In the afternoon, we head for the Heidenkopf, a 787-metre-high Vosges peak, where a tower offering a wide view of the Vosges massif and the Alsace plain has been erected. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 4
Today we're heading for Mont Saint-Odile and its famous convent. A major cultural landmark in Alsace, the convent is a popular place of pilgrimage. On a clear day, the view stretches as far as the Black Forest. There are also the remains of an ancient wall, the ‘pagan wall’. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 5
After breakfast, we set off on horseback towards the Serva waterfall. We ride down the mountain to the village of Natzwiller, then along a botanical trail offering remarkable views over the valley. We have lunch on the small hill of Pfriemenkopf and then head back towards the riding centre, where some beautiful galloping trails await us. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 6
Today, for our final ride, we're heading for the Haut Lachamp and Bas Lachamp plateaux, which offer sweeping views! We pass through small villages before reaching the Col de la Perheux. This is where we stop for a picnic. In the afternoon, we begin our ascent of Mont St Jean. After a gallop to the summit, we enjoy the splendid 360° view of the mountains... Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 7
Breakfast and individual departure.
Day 1
Meet at the riding centre from 5pm. The first evening, over a typical Alsatian meal, gives us the opportunity to get to know the other participants and the guides. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 2
After visiting the riding centre, we get to know our friendly Icelandic horses, fjords... All suitable for beginners. During this first half-day, we learn about our horse, the different ways of communicating with him and his behaviour with other horses. We also learn how to prepare our horse for the ride, starting with grooming, then fitting the saddle and snaffle. We get on the horse for a first saddle in the arena before setting off for a ride in the Champ du Feu forest. At an altitude of 1099m, this Natura 2000 site is the highest point in the Lower Rhine. In the afternoon, we get back in the saddle and head for the ‘haut des monts’. Here, we can enjoy an exceptional panorama of the surrounding mountains and villages. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 3
After breakfast, we set off on horseback and try out the riding centre's varied terrain to acclimatise ourselves to the various difficulties we may encounter outdoors: ditches, low branches, bridges, etc. After lunch at the riding centre, we head for the Champ du Feu stubble fields, which were once peat bogs. We also pass by Princess Emma's Rock, a huge granit boulder. It is said that fairies live there... Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 4
After breakfast, depending on our level of riding, we'll either set off on our first full day of riding, or continue to perfect our skills during a morning lesson in the arena, followed by an afternoon ride. Either way, we'll discover the Col de la Perheux and its breathtaking panorama. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 5
We set off on a full-day hike to Rothlach, home to several herds of deer. Depending on the weather, lunch is taken in an inn or as a picnic in the countryside. In the afternoon, we head for the Neuntelstein rock, where we can admire a magnificent view of the Alsace plain! We continue to improve our position on horseback and our balance in all three gaits. Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 6
For our last ride, we head for the Chaume des veaux, where we stop briefly to admire a magnificent view over the whole of the Val de Villé. We'll have a picnic in the forest, then head for the Hohwald waterfall, one of the most beautiful in Alsace! Dinner and overnight at the riding centre.
Day 7
Breakfast and individual departure.

A week long adventure through Alsace's typical landscapes and villages. You will dive into the local culture and legends around a rich dinner. |
‘Superb week-long star trek with Lise as our guide. The horses were top notch and she was a fantastic guide who listened, was always present and pleasant even when she had to go and look for boots miles after the gallops.
Felipe's cooking, which always takes our advice and goes with it, is really very good, and if we thought we were going to lose weight, we didn't ! The accommodation is clean and comfortable. We loved it and highly recommend it !’ - Isabelle U. (2024)
‘A 5-day trek, I came back enchanted and amazed by my stay. Everything was top-notch: the generous, kind and sure-footed horse riders, the team of guides, Lise and Jessica, who were super-friendly, who listened and shared, and who knew how to put us at ease, Felipe the gifted chef (thanks for the vegetarian dishes), and the landscapes were extraordinary. You marvel at every step. The holiday really exceeded my expectations (we left for the day, several gallops...). I'd love to go back. If I could give it 10 stars, I would !" - Aurélie W. (2024)
"A really great atmosphere on all levels ! First and foremost, the welcome and service is impeccable and warm, both from the moment we arrived by Marco, who's top-notch, and from the team afterwards, with good times spent together over excellent meals ! The comfort is also top-notch ! And it all continues on the 1st evening, when we get to know the participants and get into the spirit of the event... Special thanks to our Dream Team ! And right from the 1st morning we got into the mood with our horses with a proposal for each of us (as the levels were rather novice but well taken into consideration) : we discover pleasant, zen horses, each with a distinct personality, well cared for and loved... Just as it's possible to create a bond with a horse over several days, so it's also possible to discover a new pooch... Special mention goes to Plume (gentle and refined), Lolita (graceful) and Dandy (interested in everything that's going on around him, like a youngster). Our guide was present, attentive, sensitive and careful to choose the right pair for us, which gave us great confidence and positive progress during the rides. And some great gallops to boot ! In addition to his professionalism with the group and his presence and attitude towards the horses, we'll also remember the positive atmosphere around moments of sharing and laughter ! Special mention to Marti. Thank you for discovering a beautiful region in the most wonderful way... On horseback."- Randa W. (2024)
"Thanks to Luc, our guide for this trail, we discovered magnificent landscapes of the mountains of the Champ du Feu: fortified castles and breathtaking panoramic views. A lot of gratitude to Luc for his generosity, his attentiveness; he know the region by heart and shares that with us ! The rythm of the trail is perfect: we start slowly, the gaits are varied and we have great canters. The end of the trail: a lot of sadness for my daughter who had to leave her pony Paco... We get attached to them... We will come back, it's assured !" - Julie C. (2018)
"From the first day, we feel like a group of friends as the whole team wants your stay to be the best it can be just as much on the horse as the rest of the time. The tour is superb and from beginner to experienced, we all had a lot of fun." - Christophe B. (2016)
"We are very happy about the warm welcome we received at the riding center. Friendly and convivial atmosphere. We keep excellent memories of our trip !" - Véronique R. et Alexandre D. (2014)
"Great cooking, really nice guides, perfect trip !" - Didier L. (2013)
