The department of Corrèze is located in the region of Limousin and is the ideal place for beautiful horse rides in the middle of a preserved nature. |
This region is full of singular and preserved natural sites. You will ride between rivers and falls, through bogs and forests, and through a thousand of paths running across millennial landscapes... This is idyllic scenery for a riding tour in full nature. |
Day 1 - Welcome
You will arrive between 6.30pm and 8pm at the equestrian farm, where you will have some time to settle down in your room and have a first look of our equestrian farm and its environment before a homemade dinner.
Day 2 - Introduction to our approach of ethology and western
We will start our stay with a day of introduction to our approach of ethology and western riding. The morning will take place between talks and practical ethology workshop with school horse herd observation ! The specific ethological optics constituting the framework of the interactions with our horses on foot as well as in the saddle, will be presented to you with passion by Laetitia, who will then accompany you for the creation of the rider-horse couples.
We will continue with the preparation and the western equipment of the horses, following by a sequence in career. Thus, we will allow the necessary time for you to familiarize with our approach to western ethological riding and the specific technique associated with it, and for you to bond with your horse before the outdoor rides. A short ride may be possible to end the day.
Day 3 - The Gallo- Roman remains
After returning to our horses and revised according to the needs the learning of the day before, we will leave at the rhythm of the horses and riders towards the North-East until the border between Monédières and Plateau of Millevaches, to appreciate the landscape at the orientation table of the Col de Lestards.
On this first day of riding, you will be able to soak up the calm atmosphere and typical natural places of the regional natural park and the Massif des Monédières. On the way, we will stop at the Gallo-Roman site of the Col des Géants, and we will ride along one of the last ZNIEFF (natural zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest) of landes des Monédières !
Day 4 - At the Corrèze ford
This loop will lead us to La Goutte to have a picnic lunch in the cavity of a green valley. Here, we can relax; we can ford the Correze River and wade in it in hot weather. To arrive at the Correze River, we will ride through the Puy Charrin sectional forest, and the undulating plains pastured by the Limousine cows. In the afternoon, we will ride through different rural and forests landscapes. Some of them are wild and others are more civilized. Finally, we will be able to make a detour to see the waterfalls formed by the river in the Gour du Farandou rocks...
Day 5 - The abandoned village
This day, we'll ride to Puy Charrin, which faces our valley, to discover its wooded areas. We'll then go around it and take a combination of its many paths to reach the magnificent panorama that stretches from north to south-east! We'll continue over hills and valleys, passing Puy Blanc and its vast hardwood forest (mainly beech, oak and chestnut), as well as the little village of Chastagnol, the meaning of which you can perhaps already guess ?
Day 6 - Bruyères and blueberries
This last day is placed under the sign of the most wonderful natural spaces in the Massif des Monédières. We will ride on the Suc au May up to its orientation table located in a Natura 2000 zone emblematic of its blueberry moors, its heathers and its open landscapes.
If the weather is good, we will even be able to see the Massif du Sancy and the Monts du Cantal in Auvergne ! We will then cross the moor to reach the Monediere organic farm. Here, the farmers value the breeding of Limousines sheep, the picking and transformation of wild blueberries, as well as a market gardening, respecting this preserved environment. We will find space in our saddlebags to bring home local products !
Then, back at the equestrian farm, we'll take one last look after our mounts and escort them back to their meadows. Then it's time to say goodbye.
It's possible to stay an extra night on site (extra night and/or dinner to be booked preferably when registering).
