ARDECHE - Weekends and shork breaks in Land of Crussol

We offer you this adventure in the heart of Ardeche, in a wild and authentic region. We welcome you on the Ardechois first plateaus to discover outdoor riding in the chesnuts region.

To discover Haut Vivarais plateaus during a weekend, we offer you two programs from 2 to 3 days.

Weekend at the heart of Ardeche (2 days / 1 night)

Two riding days to discover the first Ardechois plateaus. Canters in centenary beeches woods, change of scenery guaranteed.

Day 1
Meeting point in the equestrian inn, a former castle farm, between 8:30am and 9am (possibility to arrive the day before if you want). You will be explained your itinerary for the day and will get your horse to start the ride. Today we are going to follow a loop way. We start with the crossing of Saint Barthelemy village at the bottom of Serre de la Roue, centre of religious wars. A panoramic view is waiting for us at the top of Serre des Fourches, then we have the possibility to canter to the picnic spot, close to Bosc castle. After lunch, we ride over Saint Genest pass to reach "La Ferme du Châtaignier" where we visit the farm and taste the chesnut in every shape and form. Then, we ride across Lamastre along Vivarais touristic train railway. We arrive at "Buisson d'Urbilhac", the former castle farm where we have the dinner and spend the night.

Day 2
After a generous breakfast, we ride to Lamastre and leave it through the Calade des Marchands (a calade is a little sloped cobbled narrow street) while riding along Pe Cheylard Castle ruins. We ride on a charming smugglers path until the village of Saint Basile via Trappe du Loup. Thanks to the loop we are following, we have the opportunity to see the beautiful Maisonseule Castle and then we have a wonderful view on the Doux and Sumène valley. We stop at Saint Basile for our picnic break. In the afternoon, a couple of canters are possible and the passing of Reynaud Mount leads us to Saramant where we can admire Gibier de Jonc Mount and ardechois mountain before going back to the inn. Individual departure from 6:30pm.

Chesnuts and Castles short break (3 days / 2 night / 3 days riding)

Lamastre land stretches on a verdant plateau between 500 and 950 meters of altitude, in "Ardeche Plein Coeur" territory where pastures and orchards stand alonside pines, beeches, oaks and chesnut trees woods. Located at the edge of Ardeche Mounts Natural Park, very close to Eyrieux and Doux valley and some famous touristic sites.

Day 2
We start our day with the crossing of Lamastre, arrival train station of the Mastrou touristic train, the pretty steam train of the Doux Gorges. We ride between firs and orchards until Sauvages Castle where we start climbing towards Ardechois plateaus. The path is perfect for a couple of canters and have a view until Cadet, where we stop to let our horses drink and organize our lunch break. Then, we start riding down to the feudal village of Desaignes. An old railway leads us to Lamastre by crossing chesnut and cherry groves. We leave the village for a last canter before reaching our inn "Buisson d'Urbilhac" for the dinner and night.
