Day 1 - Sunday
Meeting at the departure point of the ride around 6pm. Accommodation, introduction
to the trail ride and to the guide and other participants and dinner.
Day 2 - Monday
The ride starts on the southern side of the small Luberon. A small rocky trail will take you up on the hills of the Luberon. Nice view on the Mont Ventoux (localy called "the giant of Provence") and the Lure Mountain. We will reach the Plateau of Claparèdes, famous for its lavender production. Lunch in the hills. On the afternoon, you will ride down to the Aiguebrun Gorges, the border between Small Luberon and Big Luberon, then, close to Prieure of Saint Symphorien and we ride along Aiguebrun river to reach our first accommodation down the Buoux cliffs.
Day 3 - Tuesday
This morning, we ride along the small river to its source through an enjoyable green path, then we ride up on the Plateau of Claparedes to discover the first lavender fields, dry stone walls and " bories " (small shepherds' pen). We stop in the perched village of Saignon to water the horses at the fountain. In the afternoon, we ride down to the "Colorado Provençal" old ocher mines. We visit on horseback this exceptional site before leaving your horse and reach your hotel in the village of Rustrel.
Day 4 - Wednesday
We quietly get into a valley shaded by oak trees, onto the Albion Plateau, high spot for lavender. We have our picnic break near a chapel before browsing the plateau, former nuclear missiles site for the French nuclear force from 1971 to 1996. Ride among the lavender and sage fields with a break at a distillery where your guide will explain the production of basis for the perfume manufactures. Arrival at the guesthouse where we can relax and take a swim in the pool before visiting the village of Sault, lavender capital, do some shopping and visit the lavender distillery.
Day 5 - Thursday
This morning, you will ride in the direction of Saint-Trinit through moorlands and forests. The lunch will wait for us in the shade near Sault. In the afternoon, we ride to Aurel, charming medieval village at the foot of the Mount Ventoux. In the afternoon, the colors of lavenders, fields of cereal and the shadows of the Mount Ventoux may tempt us to imitate the numerous painters who fell in love with this region. We arrive at the end of the afternoon near Montbrun-les-Bains, surrounded with green hills and dominating a plain of perfumed lavenders: one of the most beautiful villages of France.
Day 6 - Friday
This morning, we ride by the Giant of Provence: the Mount Ventoux. Then, we ride along the Toulourenc, a refreshing enjoyable stream, through the wonderful villages of Savoillan, Brantes and Plaisians and enter in the Provencal Drome: an alternating of woody and lavender planted hills. In the afternoon, we ride down to Buis les Baronnies where the truck and the minibus are waiting for your transfer back to the riding centre.
Day 7 - Saturday
End of the trip after breakfast. Transfers
possible to Aix en Provence center train station (10:15am), TGV train station (10:30am) and Marseille airport (11am) if needed.

Horses
Our travel companions! We will live at our horses’ pace! Our horses are Spanish or barb crossbreds, adapted to trail riding. Well balanced and willing, they live in a herd, outdoors, and are only used to trail riding. They are our guarantee for a relaxing and safe ride. Tack Our saddles are designed for trail riding and allow a laid back style of riding. |
You have to be at ease at the three gaits (walk, trot, canter) outside without being a really experimented rider. You are also invited to take care of your horse (groom, saddle and unsaddle).

Maximum weight : 100kg
Children are accepted from 12 years old if they have the required riding level.
We accept non-accompanied teenagers from 15 years old.
The equestrian center can lend you a helmet but we advise you to bring yours for more comfort.
Guides are certified, and are friends who made a job of their passion. They will share with you this passion and the pleasure of trail riding. They speak French and English and will try not to be the leader in the riding tour.
A logistics vehicle carries the luggage from one accomodation to another.
Accommodation is in shared double or triple rooms in comfortable local guesthouses. Single rooms are available upon request and with supplement. For single bookings the supplement is mandatory, but can be refunded if you are ready to share your room and we find another rider of the same gender wishing to do so.
At lunch, our assistant will prepare a substantial buffet. A “pastis”, a glass of red wine a barbecue by a mountain stream, a refreshing salad, a nap before leaving again: these small pleasures will add to the friendliness of our rides. In the evening everyone meets around a nice table, to discover the local food. We will have dinner in small hotels and guesthouses. |
