During these week-ends in full nature, we invite you to “disconnect” with daily life. Lyons forest is an 11000 hectare huge beech wood, undulating and sprinkled with rivers, plunged into country setting perfumed by sea breeze. |

Meeting point at the equestrian center at 7:30pm where our guide is waiting for us. Now, it’s time to enjoy a good meal cooked by our guide. During the dinner, we will plan together our week-end excursion. First night in the guesthouse.
Day 2As the day before, we pick up our horses after having another hearty breakfast. Today, we are riding at the heart of the Lyons forest, which is the largest forest in Normandy... We are crossing Lyons La Forêt, a village registered as one of the most beautiful in France. This lovely village has been built on the site of a former fortified castle, and has adopted its map. Every Sunday, the market place becomes the bustle of Lyons La Forêt. Our picnic break often takes place at Lorleau (the water mouth) with a panorama on the Lieure valley. We ride back to the guesthouse at the end of the day and say good bye to our horses. After a last drink, riders leave individually at 6pm.

Horses breed
We prefer the Icelandic horse for its adaptation quality. In fact, this is a strong, generous and kind horse which reassures its rider and easily crosses any path. It is used to live in herd, so it is an excellent trail riding horse. We use Icelandic saddles, barely different from the traditional English saddles. Their construction is similar to dressage saddles with a relatively flat sitting. The stirrups are put on a long size. |
The "Lyons Forest" program is suitable for beginners, as well as for professional riders. The horse’s ability bridges the different levels of the riders. A good physical condition is enough.
Good to Know
Every rider is responsible for his horse: the horse’s foot, detection of small injuries, grooming, and is responsible for the equipment to maintain clean and in a good condition.
Maximum authorized weight: 110 kg
Children from 8 years old are accepted if accompanied by an adult.
Children from 13 years old are accepted and don’t need to be accompanied.
The use of riding helmet is compulsory !
Patrice will be our guide, as well as, other qualified and experimented guides. They have ATE or BPJEPS degree, and hold the sports instructor’s registration. "My horse was very calm but tonic, it was a real pleasure. Super guide ! Very good food." Isabelle M. (2019)
"We had a great time there with Patrice and Mathilde. Despite the difficulty with speaking to each other, we managed to communicate pretty well. The stable and tacks were in good shape and the Icelandic horses were adorable and gentle. Patrice is a great cook with good taste of food choice. Even the baguette he bought was better in Paris's. He introduced us some aperitifs (don't even know what the name) that I HAD to search when I came back to Hong Kong. He cooked like a professional cook and I miss his food as much as the journey. Thank you. Will definitely come again." - Agnès T. (2018)
"This full-nature tour week-end was amazing. The horses were dynamic and lovely! The two guides were nice and careful to the riders and horses. In autumn, the forest is gorgeous, and provides you to see beautiful local wildlife (a lot of deers). Furthermore, pleasures of eating were present with Patrice’s cuisine. I also really appreciated Patrice’s working philosophy: pedagogy and goodwill were in the spotlight. I took the opportunity to learn outdoor and in full-nature!" - Agnès J. (2017)
"Very quit accommodation. The quality and quantity of meals and snacks were more than generous. The stables were clean and functional. The horse equipment was in good conditions and well mantained. I have riden different horses during my stay, and they were all perfectly trained and cared. I have had three different guides who were all sensitive and provided good advices. The itineraries were different and landscapes were beautiful." - Lucie C. (2017)
"We spent a fantastic weekend with Patrice & Béa, their Icelandic horses and a group of nice people part of which were novices. Patrice and his horses are able to make total beginners canter in total security. You have to see it to believe it. Many thanks to Patrice, Béa and their wonderful Icelandic horses." - Claire & Christophe S. (2014)
"Patrice is a gourmet cook! Everything was delicious and I'm getting hungry just thinking about his date tajine... A real delight!" - Camille B. (2013)
